Member of the Month — Janeika Donaldson!

Meet our spirited and enthusiastic Member of the Month for March, Janeika!

Why did you join Sister Fit?

I wanted to try out boxing and attend workout classes that were diverse and flexible and made it possible to attend classes after work. My co-worker/friend encouraged me to join Sister Fit.

How old are you and how do you like to identify?

I am 26 years old and I’m female.

What would you say to help encourage another person to join our gym?

It’s a safe space where you can be yourself. It’s a good representation of empowerment where everyone encourages each other. It also teaches you the importance of showing up for yourself.

What are some differences that you’ve noticed in your mental and physical health?

For my mental health, I noticed that I’ve been practising more mindfulness breathing techniques when I’m feeling stressed or overwhelmed. I also noticed that I’m open to trying new things instead of having the fear of what the outcome will look like.

Physical health—I have increased upper body and lower body strength and I also feel more energetic during the day.

What’s your favourite food?

BBQ ribs and chicken. It also has to come with sides, lol. Also, Mango Diamond Slush from Real Fruit Bubble Tea.

What’s your favourite exercise?

Boxing and lunges.

What do you do for work?

I work as a Recreational Therapist at a Long Term Care Home.

What are you passionate about? 

Going to different places and trying different foods!
