Coach FLG

Fatima Lee Garsi - Director/Head Coach

I am the Founder and Head Coach of Sister Fit.
I create my own path instead of following in other's footsteps and value others who can think independently. Fitness and martial arts has become so infused with my life, that's it's hard to describe what it does for me now. I can say, however, that when I do not practice or when I become unfit, my posture weakens and life feels very heavy.I was able to overcome so many challenges and hardships through focusing on what was good for my body. Sister Fit is a mix of community (positive and warm people), experience (high-level coaching and attention), and results (physical and emotional change) that make a new fitness lifestyle so easy to adapt to. It is my mission to deliver a service to you that surpasses your expectations and challenges you to see yourself in a different light.

Creative Editor

I’m a writer, educator, editor, and PhD student in English Literature at York University. I teach English at the School of Communication and Literary Studies at Sheridan College and love helping people explore their creative potential.
While I spend most of my time reading, writing, researching, or teaching, I value the focus, discipline, and emotional benefits of athleticism. I admire women who pursue the rigour of sport with determined focus and have always wanted to embody that drive in my own life.
For me, I find that drive and outlet in the simple act of running. This accessible and beginner-ready sport has provided me with a consistent physical challenge, and is an incredible source of mental and emotional peace. In the most wonderful of ways, it has also fueled my creativity - there’s nothing like a run to help you problem-solve when you’re facing a blank page!
I admire the work of all the women involved in Sister Fit and look forward to continuing my support of its programming through writing and creative development.
Anika

Coach Anika

Hi, I’m Anika!
I started training in Sister Fit programs near the end of 2017 and I have not regretted it since! I have been a relatively active person, however for the past three years, I have really embraced it as a form of investment in myself. My emotional, mental, and physical health improvements have motivated me to continue to strive to be better in all aspects of my life. I have tried many different programs but I always come back to boxing and strength training. During the day, I work for the City of Toronto but my more interesting hobbies are doing jigsaw puzzles, 3D puzzles and assembling tedious pieces of furniture! I am very excited to meet new women who are here to develop themselves — I am honoured to be part of that process.

Kim

Coach Kim

I am Kim Villaluz and I am a corporate desk jockey 5 days a week, and a nerdy, knitting, show-binging, dog mom, gymrat the rest of the time. To add to my eclectic list of titles, I am the newest coach at Sister Fit. Surprisingly (mostly to me), I went from "gym? never heard of her" to "gym is my therapy". It began when I joined our Muay Thai class in October 2021 and the rest is history. I already loved and respected the martial art, but coupled with the impeccable vibes of Sister Fit and its wonderful team, I was also able to learn to love and respect fitness as a whole. Through my own fitness journey, I've discovered a real desire to help others find their way, on their terms. And where better to do so than a place that I've come to consider a second home.

Aaida Mamuji - Boxing and Fitness

I’m a competitive amateur boxer, boxing instructor, and a Professor in Disaster and Emergency Management at York University.

I started boxing at the end of 2010 at Final Round Boxing in Ottawa, and from the moment I first hit the bag, I felt something stir inside me. Witnessing the dedication of all those around me, I instantly discovered that we all have some type of power deep within, and most of us don’t know that it exists.

Boxing has made me feel like a stronger person emotionally and spiritually. I believe that external strength and internal strength go hand in hand, and one augments the other.

I love coaching and sharing my love of boxing with other women. The benefits of sport for self-confidence, self-esteem, discipline, teamwork, and physical fitness are innumerable. And, when we do things for ourselves, we have so much more to give to those around us.

TESTIMONIALS

Amazing, helpful coaches (coaches Kim and Fatima are AMAZING) + fun, friendly vibes + a workout that was tough, yet accessible enough for those easing back into exercise, like me! Everyone was sweating and panting, but also laughing. Looking forward to going back for the next class 🙂

- Inggrid W.

The best coaches ever! Love the gym! It’s absolutely worth getting enrolled here coz it’s honestly the best part of my week! 😀

- Nasiha Q.

Just started my fitness journey with Sisterfit and I’m happy to say it was a great decision! Fatima is a very welcoming and supportive teacher who shares her passion and wholistic approach to fitness by creating a positive and safe environment for women from all walks of life to sweat from the soul and achieve their individual fitness goals.   My first class with Kim (Strength & Fitness) was fantastic! She was engaging, provided clear and thorough instructions and kept me motivated throughout the whole session. If you’re looking to build strength, develop your physique, build sisterhood and have a great time, then this is definitely the spot to be!

- Amran J.

Such a fun class, free of judgement, great people and you work up such a sweat and burn that you will feel the next day.
